Blown Insulation

Blown insulation has many uses and benefits and is the traditional form of insulation. It is a fast and easy way to save money and significantly reduce your growing energy bill. Blown insulation is done using a special machine that shreds the insulation into tiny bits and introduces it to a space via a long, wide hose. The process resembles something like reverse vacuum cleaning, with the particles being blown out of the tube instead of being sucked into it. The materials used for blown insulation are mineral wool and other similar compounds.

What is the Difference?

When you measure the efficiency of insulating materials, the rule of thumb is, the tighter – the better. Blown insulation is significantly more compact than standard insulation. It seals small holes, corners, crevices and cracks, preventing unwanted airflow from getting in.

Fast and Simple Process

Installing this type of insulation is very fast. Once the barrier is installed (normally stapled onto the two by four frame), is then filled by the machine, pumped full of the insulating material.

Energy Efficient and Cost Effective

Blown insulation is one of the most energy efficient types of insulation available in the market nowadays. Pre-compacted, it is blown into the barrier, expanding to fill it up and filling the tiniest cracks. This method can create a 100% airtight attic or wall, shrinking your energy bill to under 50% of its current price.

Attics

Increasing the amount of insulation in your attic is one of the easiest ways to increase the comfort and energy efficiency of your home. New blown in insulation can be added on top of any existing insulation, we recommend increasing your attic insulation to “R50” to maximize the efficiency of your attic.

Our trained installers will upgrade your attic and install soffit ventilation as required while ensuring minimal inconvenience to the homeowner.

If your attic insulation has been exposed to excessive moisture, you may want to remove the existing insulation prior to installing new material. Any roof repairs should also be completed before upgrading your attic to prevent future water damage and potential mold growth.

Walls

Many homes built prior to 1960 have little or no insulation in the exterior walls. Adding insulation to your exterior walls and attic can reduce your homes energy costs by up to 50%.

Fiberglass can be blown into the exterior walls providing a R14 for 2×4 construction. The insulation is blown into the exterior walls thru 1″ holes drilled in the exterior walls. Our installers use a vacuum system while drilling to minimize dust.
